Step into Sport

Together with Windsor High School (Specialist Sports College) First4Football have helped 5 students from the school achieve over 500 hours of coaching within the local community.

The students have worked on a purely voluntary basis under the guidance of senior coaches at First4Football.  The students have assisted in the delivery of coaching sessions at Primary Schools (out of hours clubs), Mini Soccer Schools, and Holiday Schemes.

The Step into Sport programme is a nation wide initiative where students can work towards a bronze, silver or gold award based on how many hours they have accumulated in the twelve month period from April 2004 to March 2005.

Two of the students have since gone on to gain their level one certificate in coaching football, whilst two others will be attending the next level one course to be held locally in the next couple of months.

On achieving the level one certificate the students will able to work for First4Football on a part time basis whilst continuing their college studies.

This is the first opportunity First4Football has had to help young people in the community access a coaching environment, which will enable them to earn a part time income and take their first step towards independence.

Simon Perruzza said 'It is our intention to continue with this work where possible, to assist any youngsters who have the desire, willingness and possess the right attributes to take on a future coaching role.
